Yellow Sapphire is the yellow variety of corundum, which is the same family as ruby and blue sapphire. The most beautiful color of yellow sapphire is a fresh yellow with out brown, or green overtones, and not too dark or too pale. The color in yellow sapphire comes from the presence of Iron in the crystal structure. We will find this color in yellow sapphire which comes from the area of basalt rock such as yellow sapphire from Chantaburi which always found in these areas. This is why yellow sapphire is called Mae-Nam-Khong and is popular among Thai people. The color can result fromcolor centers, such as yellow sapphire from Sri Lanka which always has yellow with orange or sometimes is a beautiful golden yellow.
