  Mystic Topaz:

The Tucson 2003 show caught everyone by surprise.  Mystic Topaz's mysteriously flaming colors drove people berserk for it.

Since it resembles all shades of Sapphires and Ruby, Pink Sapphire, Padparascha, Alexandrite, Canary Diamond and so many other exotic natural colors, the shimmering product stood out astonishingly wherever it was displayed. The largest distributor of Mystic Topaz sold out his entire stock before the show's last day.

Buyers were scooping it up eagerly by the hundreds, thousands and 10's of thousands (if and where it was available).  Because of its affordability coupled with its large variety of scintillating celestial, earthly and oceanic colors, most of them were thinking of their new silver-jewelry designs. But a lot of the avant-garde 14K and 18K gold designers were after it as well.

Many knowledgeable gem dealers and jewelry marketeers say Mystic Topaz consumption will soon bypass that of Blue Topaz, the bread-and-butter darling of the last century.  So, it appears that this beautiful space-age gemstone has finally arrived at its long overdue point of popularity. Why?

Because Mystic Topaz is NEW to the jewelry market. It's one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL new gemstones to come down the pike for decades.  It's CHEAP!  It's becoming more POPULAR by the week!  And it's AVAILABLE NOW! But, it's rapidly becoming more difficult to supply the demand. In 2006, the only legitimate (patented) Mystic Topaz may soon run out of the laboratory's ( Azotic! Coating Technologies) capacity.

Last year Mystic Topaz found its way to one of the major T.V. networks, and a few well-known American designers are already supplying higher-class department stores in the U.S.

PS: If Mystic Topaz isn't exciting enough for you, just think; Mystic CZ is already in the works!

TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
The process is technically called Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) applied to NATURAL TOPAZ.   The PVD is on the gem's pavilion (bottom); therefore the table and crown (face) of the stone is natural topaz: extremely resistant to scratching.

NOTE: Azotic's TM surface-enhanced gemstones are protected by USA PATENT NUMBER 5-853-826.  Azotic TM WILL pursue ANY patent infringement activity afforded under USA PATENT LAWSon behalf of Azotic's TM products; to protect Azotic's TM investment as well as the customers.

CARE OF MYSTIC TOPAZ JEWELERY
Mystic Topaz should be handled with the same care as opals and pearls.

  • The treated layer is only microns in thickness; it is not deposited in thick layers.
  • If the wearer utilizes care, the enhancement will last the life of the jewelry setting.
  • However, the enhanced gemstone should not be exposed to any abrasives, acids, or immersed in an ultrasonic cleaner.  Ultrasonic cleaners may contain a pickling solution that would cause damage to the enhanced surface of the gemstone.
  • Abrasive cloths may scratch the enhanced surface of the gemstone. This may not remove the treatment, but scratching the optical surface will effect the reflection of light traveling through the gemstone. This influences the color and clarity of the gemstone.
  • High heat may adversely affect the refractive index: eliminating color-intensity.  Heat should NOT be applied to the enhanced surface of the gemstone.
  • Cleaners:  Use only cleaners that are safe for pearls or opals; specifically, "Windex" and "Jewel Brite" to clean the enhanced gemstones.  A mild soap and water rinse also works well.   Simply wash off the dulling surface oils and blot dry with a clean paper towel.  This will restore the colors to their original luster and brilliance.

Songkran Water Festival (Thai New Year):

The Kingdom of Thailand 's most celebrated festival is the Songkran Festival: April 12-15.

The word Songkran is from Sanskrit, meaning the beginning of a new Solar Year: it is the traditional Thai New Year. This is the time for Thais to pay homage to Buddha images, and a Public Spring-Cleaning Day, supported by the religious belief that anything old and useless must be thrown away or it will bring bad luck to the owner. So, all Thais clean their homes, and Young people pour rose-scented water into the hands of elders and parents as a mark of respect while seeking the blessing of the older people .

It is an old belief that the Nagas or mythical serpents brought on rain by spouting water from the seas. The more they spouted, the more rain there would be. So, one might believe that the Songkran customs of throwing water is actually a rain-making idea, but it seems the Thais don't really bother about why they celebrate Songkran - they just do it for having a great time!

Anyone who ventures out on the streets is likely to get soaking wet. But since it is the hottest season of the year, the custom is quite refreshing.

JOIN IN THE FUN AND BE PREPARED TO GET WET? VERY WET!
Chock dee pii mai! (Thai for Happy New Year).
