Gemworld International ,Inc.has released the Fall/Winter 2004-2005 edition of The Guide Color. This is in time for the coming  holidays season, and hot on the heels of the recent Asian trade fairs.

Internation from the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair and the Hong Kong Jewellery  & Watch Fair, says Gemworld, indicates pink and red gemstone and many pearl varieties were the favourite purchase of western buyers.Pink sapphire moved the fastest, with red and pink spinel following.demand is up,says Gemworld ,but there are concern that this spurt in demand may confront a drop insupply."Production of colored stones has been declining globally, and is down at virtually every deposit.Serveral factors account for this. Not least is that the 'easy pickings"in know deposits have played outprices have firmed,in some cases sharply, for a range of gem materails," said Stuart Robertson,Research Diorector for The Guide.

In Burma, many ruby deposits have experienced reduce production, says Gemworld.Fine quality stones, are joined by Good quality stones, due to increased competition between buyers.Madagascar's pink  and blue sapphire  production is lagging as the hand-dug pits get deeper.Sri Lanka  has responded to treatment controversies by becoming the destination for untreated corandum.Mr Robertson said," An examination of The Guide's archives shows that in spite of price increases,Ceylon pinks are still reasonably priced." Red spinel's high demand rsulted in average increase of 30% ,while other varieties remained stable.
Mr Robertson said,"The key here is to know the price points your clients will shop."The complementary values of large,Fine Akoya and small South Sea pearls experienced surges in demand due to improved quality in Akoyas and increased market share of South Seas.tahiltain pearls, benefiting from a heavy marketing campaign, have seen decreased prices for commercial qualities and increased prices for the Freshwater pearls  are stable, says gemworld, but the commercial production of large,bead-nucleated pearls could vhang the landscape dramatically.
Emerald  prices are firming as high-end gems become truly scare despite increase mining .The increase demand ,says Gemworld,is credited to consumer education and renewed confidence regarding confidence treatment disclosure. Fine amethyst and ametrine are in good supply, but experienced an increase of 10% .Nigerain spessartite source are no longer producing, and demand  is outpacing supply  in response to fall fashions.Production  at Lightening Ridge has been serveraly hampered ,resulting in lower grade, higher cost materail.Gemworld International,Inc. is the publisher of The Guide.
