Contemporary
sensual Golay's 2006 pearl creations |
|
|
For
2006, Golay has come up with a rich assortment of pearl creations corresponding
to the latest design trends - jewellery creations of contemporary sensuality
- pearl necklaces of mixed colours and fanciful shapes - and longer, ever
longer pearl sautoirs entwining the hearts of all pearl lovers.
Among Golay's spring/summer collection are cultured
pearl accessories in a warm-coloured palette of natural hues to rival
the beauty of pink and white cherry blossoms of spring. These necklaces
are perfect for highlighting every movement of summer dresses of pastel
tulle, Golay says. |
|
|
The cultured pearl industry is in perpetual innovation, cultivating
a myriad of new and creative shapes of ever larger sizes. These
innovations bring forth an exciting range of pearl necklaces that
have come very far from the classic necklaces
of white, round pearls, defying the deep-rooted perception of the
classic pearl.
Pearls have always been beautiful and elegant, but now they are
also spicy and fun to wear, says Golay. Standouts from Golay's 2006
creations include Personal Signature, a set of ring, earrings and
necklace in white gold 750 with white cultured pearls, articulated
white gold motifs and diamond highlights; Oriental Myth, cultured
pearl ring and necklace in white gold 750 with diamonds and Contemporary
Chic, multicolour pearl sautoirs at various lengths.
Baroque and fanciful, the non-conforming
beauties of these pearls will be foremost in responding to the new
trend for all that is authentic and organic. The varied collection
of Golay pearl creations confirm the immense capacity of the cultured
pearl industry in constantly reinventing itself and bringing out
some very delightful surprises.
The growth of the Golay Group spans over
more than one century. It was established in 1887 in Switzerland,
offering natural pearls and gemstones to the jewellery and watch
industries. |

Gemstone
Color and Mystical Symbolism
By Sam Serio |
|
|
The universe of colored gemstones is endlessly fascinating, for
centuries, nearly every culture has held the P belief that colored stones
possess magical powers or the c ability to endow the wearer with certain
attributes. Due to the magical powers associated with colored gems, they
were used extensively as amulets and talismans, portals to the future;
and as important components to many spiritual practices.
Yellow stones when worn by a woman were a sign of generosity. Worn
by a man, a yellow stone signaled secrecy (as with a secret lover).
A violet stone worn by a woman indicated lofty thoughts and love
of a spiritual nature. For a man, sober judgment, steadfastness, and ambition. |

Black stones revealed foolishness and capricious-ness in young women,
while in married women it showed fidelity, constant love and perseverance.
A man wearing a black stone exhibited gravity, common sense, constancy,
and inner strength.
Red stones
when worn by a women indicated pride, haughtiness, and obstinacy.
On a man nobility, command, leadership and vengeance.
Blue stones
on a woman exposed jealousy in love, vigilance and social correctness.

Christie's
to showcase jewels by Elizabeth Taylor |
|
|
Christie's, Dame Elizabeth Taylor and House of Taylor Jewelry, Inc. announced
that selected jewels designed by the legendary icon would be offered at
auction by Christie's in New York, Hong Kong and Geneva. The specially
designed jewels will be provided to Christie's exclusively through House
of Taylor Jewelry, where Dame Elizabeth is the majority shareholder. The
first creations to be sold by Christie's will be featured in their October
11th Magnificent Jewels auction in New York.
"We are honored to partner in this important endeavor with one of
the most adored artists, humanitarians and now certainly designers of
our time," said Stephen Lash, chairman, Christie's. "This marks
a fantastic continuation of our many years of working with this legend,
having teamed with her in historic fund-raising auctions in support of
her work to promote the research and treatment of HIV/AIDS, as well her
own purchases of great jewelry pieces." |
|
|
Dame Elizabeth said, "Until the launch of House of Taylor Jewelry,
many people didn't know how much I love to design pieces that I
wear and for people that I love. I've never thought of the jewels
in my collection as trophies. I don't believe I own any of them
or the designs I create that become jewelry. Like the pieces in
my personal collection I am their custodian.
"My
love affair with Christie's came about with the launch of my book,
'My Love Affair With Jewelry,' with a wonderful introduction by
Francois Curiel, Christie's worldwide head of jewelry. This magnificent
auction house did such a beautiful job of displaying my personal
collec-1 tion and celebrating my passion for beautiful jewels they
eclipsed the possibility of my ever designing for anycompetitor.
"Stephen Lash and Christie's have been quietly generous and
greatly supportive of my work for people with HIV/AIDS. They make
loving, ongoing contributions to my foundation and brought tremendous
energy to the launch of my book."
|
|
Jack Abramov, president and CEO of House of Taylor Jewelry, said,
"The strategic alliance between Daniel Elizabeth and Christie's
underscores the global appeal! and the magnificent quality of our
House of Taylor Jewelry! collection. It is a strong testament to
our company's market-1 ability and demonstrates the soundness of
our corporate growth strategies."
